Quote for the Day

I said last week that I was abandoning the proposed roll call of quotes of people and events from Billy Joel's We Didn't Start the Fire because the next few - Red China, Johnnie Ray - were too unexciting and difficult. Trivia MC Graham took me task and wanted me to resume it, so here we go again . . .

Today's topic: Red China

(Red China refers to China since the Communists, led by Mao Zedong, defeated the Nationalist Kuomintang Party and established the People's Republic of China on 1 October 1949.)

Thomas Loren Friedman (1953 - ) is an American journalist, author, and three time Pulitzer Prize winner.  Friedman currently writes a weekly column for The New York Times. He has written extensively on foreign affairs, global trade, the Middle East, globalization, and environmental issues.
